Asheboro, NC, September 18th, 2019 – Southmont Elementary School inducted their Inaugural Beta Club members in their newly chartered Chapter of National Junior Beta Club on Wednesday, September 18th at 5:00pm. The Southmont Elementary School Chapter of National Junior Beta Club members and their sponsors, Jenny Parker and Brooke Andrews, were honored to have guests from Southwestern Randolph High School Beta Club and their sponsors present to assist in the induction ceremony. During the ceremony, Caroline Cagle was inducted as a new member and acting President for this Chapter and members received their Beta Club certificates and Beta Club pins.

The Southmont Elementary School Chapter of National Junior Beta Club plans to incorporate service projects within their monthly meetings, along with lessons on the four pillars of the National Beta Club: Achievement, Leadership, Character and Service. Their first service project will kick-off in October, where the Junior Beta Club will coordinate a food drive to donate canned goods to the CUOC. “I am so excited to be able to teach students the value of their academics, while also instilling qualities of leadership and service,” said Jenny Parker, Sponsor and 5th grade teacher at Southmont Elementary School.

The Southmont Elementary School Chapter of National Junior Beta Club is composed of 26 members. To be considered a member, students had to meet certain academic and behavior requirements as set forth in their by-laws.

With more than 500,000 active members and 8,750 clubs nationally and internationally, National Beta has become the nation’s largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization.
